About our sewing classes:

Here at Bargain Box we offer a variety of sewing classes.

We offer some form of dressmaking and craft classes for just about everyone.

We offer some regular classes and also some “specials” Check back to our web site and we will keep you up to date with our latest classes.

All our classes are held in the sewing studio at the shop. There is a variety of sewing machines and overlockers for you to use, or you may bring your own and learn how to use it while you learn to sew!

1. Intermediate sewing:

Tuesday nights: 6.30 to 9.00pm.

This is the class for those with some experience but would like to learn more! Each student will select their own project/garment to work on.

Suitable for those who have completed the beginners course or those who haven’t sewn for a while, or those who just like to sew in the company of others with specialised advice on their sewing.

2. Absolute Beginners

Wednesday nights: 6.30 to 9.00pm.

This is the class for those who have never sewn or who have sewn only a little or perhaps a long time ago.

3. “Bag of the Month”

These are held on the 3rd Saturday of the month, 2.00 to 5.00 pm. Every month we make a different bag. For $25.00 + materials you will be given hands on instruction, the pattern and instruction sheet.

4. Thursday morning Craft and Sewing Class. 10.00am to 12.30pm.

This class is ongoing , it doesn't matter whether you are very experienced or a beginner there is something for everyone. Come and join with a small group of ladies for fun, friendship and sewing. Hone those old skills, learn something new! Craft or sewing we can give you instruction! Join now!

Cost: $22.00 per 2 ½ hour session. $25.00 per 3 hour classes. Other specialty classes as advertised.

Bookings essential.

Discounts apply for paying in advance for the 6 week period.

All students are eligible for a 10% discount on supplies (excluding patterns), sold during the sewing course.

Free use of sewing lounge during sewing course. This means that when the shop is open you can come in and do some extra sewing, at no extra charge. This can be handy for shift workers who may not be able to make the full course due to work commitments.

Don’t have a sewing machine, or don’t want to carry your machine here for classes? You may use one of ours (no extra charge).

About the teachers:

Helen Carey, owner of Bargain Box is a qualified Home Economics teacher with many years teaching experience. She has always had a passion for fabrics and sewing.

Andrea Wright, also a Home Economics teacher loves to share her extensive knowledge of sewing and her patience with others.

Helen Cook, has many years experience as a designer and dressmaker, as well as teaching at TAFE. Her enthusiasm and attention to detail is a gift she is happy to pass on to others.

Look out for information on our specialty classes: Jane Grove machine embroidery and overlocker classes, lingerie (bras making, knickers, camisoles), leotards and swimwear, pattern making, advanced pattern making, project based machine embroidery.

Coral McLeen, our lingerie specialist. Learn to make knickers, cami's, bras, nighties using stretch fabrics & laces. Coral has worked in the industry so can pass on some very useful knowledge.
